Stress isn't a cause as such but it can cause tight muscles around the neck. And THEY in turn can cause uncomfortable sensations in the hand.
Muscles are the most common cause of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and they are also the most commonly overlooked cause.
If you go to http://CarpalTunnelRadio.com you will see the featured episode is about the muscles in your neck that cause carpal tunnel issues. As you can see in the picture, they also cause knots or pain in your upper back and pain into your upper arm and chest. If those areas are also a problem then
it's a good bet that the muscles in your neck that are to blame.
So if your areas of uncomfortable sensation look like those in this picture, it's your neck muscles.
The good news is that they can be "released" manually; that is, by hand. A surgical release at your wrist will not help if the cause of your symptoms is not in the wrist.Vitamin deficiencies can also cause carpal tunnel symptoms. Please check the "Causes" and "Nutrition" Categories (on the right hand side of this page) for more about that. There are fewer articles in the Nutrition category so that will be the easiest to search. And you will discover what causes the vitamin deficiencies. (Almost everything has a correctable cause and a natural cure.)
The good news is that deficiencies can be corrected naturally, too.
I created a complete Carpal Tunnel program for natural relief (claim your free report at http://CarpalTunnelPainReliefBook.com) and it includes an extensive report and a video about how to release these neck muscles yourself.
If this is not your discomfort pattern the next muscle I would suspect is the supinator muscle which is near your elbow. If this is it, you would have sensations on the outside of your thumb and index finger (not the palm side) and pain on the outside and crease side of your elbow (not on the elbow bone.)
Numbness or tingling without pain can be symptoms of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.
